Giving democracy a louder voice: DDP’s new site, their way

The DDP has spent decades building active citizenship and deepening democracy in South Africa. But until recently, their website wasn’t keeping up with the work they were doing on the ground.

When the Democracy Development Program (DDP) came back to Juizi, their goal was clear: Get their voice back online—and make sure their team had full control over it.

They’d been battling for months to regain ownership of their digital presence. Updates were slow, publishing was complicated, and key staff couldn’t do what they needed to do without outside help. For an organisation working to empower communities, that loss of agency online was deeply frustrating.

We helped DDP rebuild their site using Plone—a platform built for organisations like theirs:

  • Trusted by institutions that need long-term stability and security

  • Flexible for editors who want to manage content without extra admin

  • Scalable for growth as new projects, events, and ideas take shape

Now, DDP can:

  • Easily share insights from their dialogues, youth programmes, and training workshops

  • Update their team’s information and publish reports without delay

  • Keep their community informed, engaged, and part of the democratic conversation

It’s not just a new website—it’s a shift back to independence and confidence.

We’re proud to support organisations like DDP that do the hard work of building a better future.
