Reminder of why we love Plone
Every year around Valentine's Day, we remind ourselves of why we love Plone, the CMS that we use to build websites and web portals.
WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Django... we've worked with them over the years, but we keep coming back to Plone. In fact, five years ago in early 2020 (yes, it's been five years), we made the decision to work only with Plone.
Here are 6 reasons why:
- Easy: Plone was never meant to be easy for developers (that's us at Juizi), but it was for sure meant to be easy to use for editors (that's y'all, our clients). And the new Plone 6 Volto is even easier.
- SEO: Plone is SEO- and mobile-friendly without any add-ons. So you can get to that 1st page ranking!
- Secure: Plone has never been hacked. Updates aren't needed as often (not every 2 min like some other platforms). And we handle the updates, so you don't have to.
- Future-proof: Older versions of Plone are supported far longer than any competitor. And even when no longer supported, they usually just keep going. At the recent conference, we heard of sites still running fine on Plone 3 (released in 2007) - that's 18 years ago!
- Open Source: that means no licencing fees. And the Plone Community is governed by a strong code of conduct (Be excellent to each other) that is upheld by a robust Foundation Board of really good people, so there's much less chance of squabbles (like has happened recently with some other platforms).
- Scalable: your website becomes as big and powerful as you need it to be, and we ramp up functionality as you need it.
