Showcasing the work that JET Education does

Aug 17, 2023
A big part of any website is showcasing the work being done. Whether this is a way to build credibility amongst peers, to show prospective new collaborators that the work you do is relevant, or simply to brag a little bit about the good work you're doing.

With the revamp of the JET Education website, we wanted to push more of the work being done to the forefront, without losing view of the collaborative efforts from partners, managers, and researchers who work tirelessly to make the organisation the success it is.

We worked with the Communications team to come up with a story that users could potentially follow when landing on the website. Each step would reveal more and more, so that visitors would not feel overwhelmed by masses of content until they were ready for it. Some people might only want to see a list of projects, some might want more detail on those projects, and some might even want to see the outputs as well. The content structure allowed each type of visitor to navigate their journey without too much initial content, but also without too many clicks (a balancing act of note).

Of course, the revamp also gave us a chance for an upgrade. We moved the website onto Plone 5.2 and introduced them to the great faceted search tool, which also makes it easier for users navigate both resources and news.

Edit: We added a wonderful AI 'Ask me a question' tool to the JET website. It is powered by Scriv and ChatGPT, and allows site visitors to ask questions about the work that JET does. Scriv narrows down responses to only use JET's resources to answer these questions. A handy tool when you want your users to get organisation-specific answers.
