Soul City Institute

We have been proudly supporting SCI for over 10 years, so redoing their website and helping them create a more established brand was a wonderful opportunity to help them grow as an organisation. In 2016, Soul City Institute for Social Justice transformed out of the overwhelming need in South Africa to have a more established organisation dedicated to uplifting young girls and womxn*. Juizi is proud to be part of this process, helping to reinvent the website and evolve the brand.

Working closely with the SCI communications team, we identified key issues that users and the organisation had with previous versions, and put our heads together to resolve them. We made the content more accessible by restructuring the grouping and navigation. Upgrading to a newer version of Plone makes it easier to keep the site up to date. The new site was designed to speak to all possible stakeholders on a level that made them feel involved and engaged.

Together with the public site, we also built a password-protected intranet site that works in the same way as the public site, making it easy to learn and use.

Soul City’s website and intranet now both work on Plone 5, enabling a core team at SCI to update both and let the organisation’s communications and media team highlight the work done.

The site has moved from a place where content ended up after development, to being a key part of the communications track. It now showcases the new projects, as well as making it easy to see older projects with useful resources.
